Training: MCL International Associate Program
The Mena City Lawyers International Associate program is a pioneering and ambitious program, whereby we invite applications from the highest calibre of international law graduates to come and undertake an intensive placement in our Beirut offices. This program is one of the first of its kind ever to be established in the region and has thus enjoyed close collaboration with the British and Irish Embassies for Lebanon.
Established in 2010, applications are sought from some of the world’s premier law schools whereby candidates are offered an unparalleled opportunity to gain exposure and experience of Middle East legal practice. The University of Cambridge, Durham University, Glasgow University, London School of Economics, New York University and Trinity College Dublin have all provided esteemed Associates in the past. A very competitive package is thus offered to ensure the highest calibre of candidates. Whilst selection for this program is highly selective and competitive, we continue to grow and expand the presence of our International Associates throughout our regional network.

Alumni from our program have gone on to secure training contracts at MCL, whilst others have returned back to their home countries to work for magic-circle law firms, international financial institutions and have obtained high-profile training contracts based on their experience garnered in the Middle East. We continue to enjoy close relationships with all Alumni from our program.
The Times newspaper in London recently ran a feature article on the scheme branding the program as “pioneering”, and quotes a former Associate as stating “the experience has definitely been worthwhile – Lebanon is a hidden gem of a country”.
Our ambitious program is ever-expanding and we continue to welcome applications from ambitious law graduates looking to have an in-depth and intensive exposure into Middle East legal practice.

Some of our previous International Associate Alumni:
Fraser Galloway joined our program from the University of Glasgow in July 2010. After a very successful placement in our office, Fraser relocated back to the UK and is now a trainee solicitor for a well-known British law firm.
James Farha was a graduate from the University of Durham who joined our team in October 2010. Upon completion of his Associateship, James returned to the UK to undertake a training contract with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London.
Richard McNally graduated in the top echelons of his class from the University College of Dublin prior to commencing his placement at MCL whereby he provided much contribution to our team. Richard has now returned to Ireland where he is a trainee lawyer with Mason, Hayes and Curran law firm in Dublin.
Aoife O’Leary graduated with a First Class honours from Trinity College Dublin, and joined our program having completed her training as a Solicitor at a renowned Irish law firm. Aoife left MCL to undertake her LLM Masters of Law at Columbia University School of Law in the United States.
Abdullah Mukalled joined our program during his study of the Legal Practice Certificate, which he was undertaking in London in order to qualify as a Solicitor in the United Kingdom.
Pauline Reinhard joined our program from Paris V (Paris Descartes) in July 2012 and is now undertaking a Master 1 Droit des Affaires.
